Did everyone enjoy their Labor Day? Eat a ton of BBQ food? Well, it’s a good thing I waited until AFTER the holiday to share these hamburger clipart images… they’ll probably leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Don’t forget to leave your own caption for the last one in the comments!

I don’t usually eat burgers, but when I do.. I EAT THEM NAKED.

Stay away from this creep, my friends.

Comic CONN (CT) Recap!

Every time I try out a new show, in a different region, I never really know what to expect. My friend Erica Schultz of M3 clued me not this one, and also offered me her couch. I figured, for a fair table price and not hotel costs, why not give it a shot. WOW. I have done a bunch of hotel comic cons before, but NEVER have I seen one maximized to this degree. They didn’t just rent out a single ballroom, they rented out EVERYTHING. Ballrooms, conference rooms, hallways, and aisles all were FILLED to the brim with dealers and artist tables. And, it was PACKED with attendees. From the minute the convention opened, until it closed, the hallways were packed, and the line of waiting attendees flooded out the hotel and into the parking lot. Many excited parents were there, even-more-excited kids in tow, and there was cosplay-a-plenty. I even witnessed a mammoth Hulk (on stilts!), who was going around scaring children with his mammoth roar, get ROARED back at by a little girl! And then she politely asked if she could stomp on his foot. Still ticked at myself for not taking a video of this phenomenal moment.

It was awesome to meet fellow creators Chris Gugliotti, Jason May, Chris Giarrusso, Emilio Velez, and Luke Foster, and see Dave Rodriguez again! Also, it was a great pleasure to meet close buds Scott “Jynksie” Jenkins of “Madbury” and Chris Watkins of “Odori Park”, and grab dinner with them and Erica after the convention!

As far as I can tell, this was my best one-day convention yet, and I would definitely go back next year! If the hotel can hold it!

I am back in the full comic-ing grind, folks. Already have 3 weeks of comics in the buffer. Wait til you see where this missing-sock-tail-storyline goes; new untouched ground for me, writing wise. I’m also right in the midst of convention season, so my weekends are a busy flurry and then I’m right back to drawing comics! Barely time to get back on the workout/exercise routine I was hoping to solidify. And look at that… this weekend is….

Fanart to Celebrate my BIRTHDAY!

Maybe THIS is what Z&F really look like! Pretty buff lookin’ aliens!

Yup, August 13th I turned whopping 33 years old. I don’t feel 33. Not even sure what 33 is “supposed” to feel like. So, I guess I just feel no different than I did at 25, so who cares? I had cake, guilt-free. That’s all that matters. ;0)

Two weekends ago was the Allentown Mega Show, and my friend Don Smith (who ALSO has the same birthday!) handed me this awesome little alien doodle. Don’s a writer, you see, and the ongoing joke in the comics world is that writers can only really draw stick figures, so this is pretty dang impressive for “a writer”, LOL! I love the little alien tie. He’s all spiffy!

Thanks Don, for this fun alien-tastic doodle, and you’re welcome, for me allowing you share a birthday with me. *grins*

———————————

Anyone who has a facebook account, knows the insanity of birthdays in facebook land. I was PUMMELED with 180+ birthday wishes from friends, and while I appreciate them all, this one stood out and REALLY made me blush. You may remember my friend Marc Lapierre of Superfogeys. His daughter, Zoe, is a huge fan of the Abby’s Adventures kids book series I illustrate, and she has all the books! In fact, at the last New York Comic Con, she has 2 very specific instructions for her dad: Go meet Spiderman, and get the new Abby book! So, when he mentioned my birthday to her, she went ahead and whipped up this awesome fanart! While it’s not Z&F fanart, I still HAD to share with you folks!

Thanks so much Zoe, and Marc! You made my day that much happier!

Heading off the shore (Stone Harbor, NJ) to relax this weekend, and celebrate my birthday (which is actually Monday the 13th)! Please no Snooki or NJ-Shore jokes. Seriously, that’s a very very small percentage of shore-goers here.

So, how about some goodies to tide you over?

Sketches!

OOoooo… a new character on the way for Z&F? Still need to name this fiery little gal.

NEXT Weekend! ComicCONN in CT!

Taking a rare trip up north, and hawking my goods at this fun little convention “for the fans by the fans”! I haven’t gone north of New York, so it should be nice to see some new faces and try out a new crowd!

Here’s some coverage of last year’s show!

Thanks to Those Who Came to Allentown Comic Con!

Another successful 2-day show under my belt! For a full recap and lots of pictures, with Webcomic Alliance buddy Chris Flick, check out the He Said/She Said Article at the Alliance website!
