Another congrats to Tom Racine of Tall Tale Radio, for his funny entry to the “Put Words in Their Mouths” Caption Contest!  I hope you enjoy this fanart I whipped up, feel free to grab it and use it on your site, if you like! (If you need a higher res. version, just let me know)

Folks, if you haven’t heard of the Tall Tale Radio Podcast, you are truly missing out! Tom interviews many different cartoonists and artists, from the famous head honchos like Stephan Pastis of “Pearls Before Swine”, to aspiring “green” web cartoonists, like… um…me! His voice, like I mentioned before,  sucks you in with it’s classic radio feel, and the shows are always interesting and informative. A must listen, TTR is my favorite webcomics podcast out there!

It’s Awards Time!

It’s time to lend some support to your favorite webcomics, folks. We cartoonists work our butts off every spare minute we have, stay up way too late, and drink way too much caffeine for our own good, just to share our humor and comic-y goodness with you fine readers. (And ‘cuz we love doing it too!) Not to give you the “I slaved over this hot stove all afternoon” shpeal, but I just want to get the word out. In a field where you get repaid in comments, re-tweets and web awards instead of cash (at least for the first couple years), this is what we thrive on for a little credibility. Just askin’ a minute or two of your time, that’s it.

Zorphbert and Fred is up for 2 awards, Art and Website Design. I am awfully flattered for those 2 nominations, and thanks to those who reached out and nominated Z&F! Of course I would appreciate your votes, but please vote for the most deserving candidate. Hey, maybe you’ll discover a new webcomic gem to add to your RSS feed in the process!

Fellow friends from comic such as “1977”, “Cock and Bull”, “Tara Normal”, “SuperFogeys”, “Bullfinch”, “Uncubed” & “The PC Weenies”, “Addanac City”, “Odori Park”, “Rick the Stick”, “Calamities of Nature”, “Unbearable Bears”, “The Frustrated Cartoonist”, “Bearman Cartoons”, “Edmun Finney’s Quest to Find the Meaning of Life”, “Steal This Comic”, and many many members of Webcomics Planet Collective have all been nominated, too! It’s like a big webcomic community group bear hug! mmmmmmm!

It’s time for YOU to friggin’ write a Z&F comic, I’m on a coffee break. For those of you who do not know, I did this caption contest over on drunkduck a lot back in 2007-8.  In fact, I ended it with 15 in the series. But now with all you new readers, I am trying it out YOU now. So, what does Zorphbert & Fred say here? If you get a great idea for another caption from one of the famous comic strip characters, lay it on me! Just post your caption entry in a comment below!

Basic Rules:

1. Remember this is a kid-friendly site, okay?

2. You can post up to 3 entries. Separate comments, please.

3. The bubble sizes are negotiable. Just post your best entry, I’ll figure it out ;0)

4. Make sure you notetate which character is saying what.

5. WINNER GETS FREE FANART FROM ME! (if you do not have a comic, I can whip up a caricature)

Clipart FAIL: #6

Yes, yes. Clipart FAIL is supposed to be a Monday post. Oh well, life happens.

This round is all about snowmen. Yeah, it’s autumn and nobody wants to be thinking about winter just yet… but it just so happened that I needed a snowman for an ad at work. Deal.

staring

Not sure if I should be in a staring contest with the ugly disturbed child or the snowman with the pacifier.

FAIL.

angryHappy Holidays from the PissedOffSnowman Family. Dad lost his job and has been smoking the “funny stuff”, Mom’s nose job went terribly wrong, and Junior’s enjoying his stay at The Boarding School for Delinquents. Been a great year. Go away.

FAIL.

xmassign

I think the only reason you can deduct that this is a snowman is the bright yellow Christmas sign.

FAIL.

santa head

Frosty had enough of Santa stealing his thunder. Heartwarming, totally going on my next Christmas Card.

FAIL.

elephant

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

FAIL.

mouse

Snowman “Passing” a Mouse? *cringe* I’m sorry, but there are certain areas you should avoid having small furry things burrow out of… am I wrong?

FAIL.

15483845

This was filed under “snowman”. Yeah, I dunno either.

FAIL.

3218601

Come, my winter woodland creatures, we shall plot to take over the world!

FAIL.

needle

Let’s just pretend we don’t notice the disturbing needle that was jammed multiple times into the snowman to express some bizarre statement about drugs…….. what is WITH the hat? Seriously. Crazy frigging hat.

FAIL.

Comic Update on FRIDAY

I think after almost 3 years of feverishly sticking to my update schedule, I am allowed a pass for something like this:

phillies

I got last-minute tickets from my company (*ahem* SUPERPRETZEL *ahem*), and will be attending tonight’s Phillies-Dodgers game. Man, if it’s anything like that heart-stopping ending of the last game, I cannot miss it! I am sooooo excited! On to the World Series, baby! Hey, if my Cleveland teams cannot win, I’ll mooch off of Philly. Wish Cliff Lee was on the mound, he WAS an Indian. (Plus, he’s really really really good.)

Look for me on TV!
