Making my Return to Jenkintown!

JFoTA-Main-Page-Image-2014-1024x680I did this show last year and it was a very well-run good time! Plus, it’s my old stomping grounds from my college days at Tyler School of Art (when it was still in Elkins Park). What a way to spend an early autumn afternoon— live music, crafts & art of all kinds, great food and a beer tent! It’s a great community family event, so come on out and enjoy the great weather we’ve had lately. It kicks off at 12:30 and runs until 6pm or so.

What I’ll have at my table:

  • All 3 Z&F volumes!
  • The exclusive preview of book 4 (minibook)
  • The VERY LAST figurine! Not making any more!
  • All 4 Abby’s Adventures books, hardcover and paperback!
  • Prints galore!
  • “You Humans are Weird” T-shirts
  • Buttons and other trinkets in my tip box o’ goodies!

NEXT Event: RetroCon in Oaks, PA, Sept. 27-28!

ret14bIt’s an 80’s Extravaganza, featuring everything from cartoon voice-actors, video games, Magic the Gathering, and of course, comics!

A Note About the Fanart Challenge…

_FanartChallengeLOGOIt was fun, guys….

….however, the general interest in the Fanart Challenge has been dwindling over the seasons. The past season I didn’t even get enough entries to be able to fairly host a voting round. With life getting busier, all the shows I do, and some BIG news coming in 2015 (hint, hint– cliffhanger!)… I just really don’t have the time to promote and hound down entrants like I did before. So, I’m retiring the Challenge– but will of course accept and post any and all Z&F fanart that is sent to me, with a link back to wherever you like.

For those who participated this past season, I will hound you down via email and send you a link to some free stuff, as a thank you for your efforts. Your work will also be included in Z&F Book 4, coming out in 2015. Speaking of Volume 4… be on the look-out for a Call for Guest Comics! I’d like to include a slew of bonus content in book 4, and this time I’m thinking straight-up comics by Z&F fans would be the best bet!

It’s that time of year again!

Baltimore Comic Con was one of the first conventions I ever attended, and this will be my 5th year exhibiting! Always my favorite show in terms of atmosphere, as it’s calls itself the “Antidote to San Diego”; what that means is it’s ALL COMICS! SDCC, Wizard World and the like are fun shows, but they have lost touch with COMICS– they are really pop-culture shows with TV and movie celebs stealing the show. The headliner at BCC every year: Stan Lee. That says it all, no?

Here’s the Details:

GrootRollUps

  2. Buy 2 Z&F books, get the 3rd FREE ($30!)
  3. Buy all 4 Abby’s Adventures book, save $5!

A Little Back-Story on the NEW Groot Roll-Ups Print…

It USED to be “Groot Loops”. Head over to Webcomic Alliance to read my re-cap of what happens when you finish a piece with what you THOUGHT was an original idea… to find out it was already DONE. And not only that, but done well by a more well-established artist. Now what do you do? Well, read up on my decision: the why’s and how’s, and see what others have to say in the comments!

So, BOSTON! Stretching my legs a bit!

It’s my first time at this show (and actually in Boston in general!), and the farthest north I have gone! I hear such wonderful things about this show; how it’s a big Artist Alley and focuses on COMICS moreso than the Wizard Worlds or San Diego– it sounds a lot like my favorite show in Baltimore! The best part is that I was selected to be a GUEST ARTIST! Check out the am-aaaaa-zing talent I’m listed along side! Jeff Smith, Scottie Young, Danielle Coresetto, and so many more! How awesome is THAT? I’m freakin’ GIDDY over here.

Alright, here’s the info!

  • Friday 8/8: 1pm-8pm (VIP)
  • Friday 8/8: 2pm-8pm
  • Saturday 8/9: 10am-7pm
  • Sunday 8/10: 10am-6pm

Seaport World Trade Center
200 Seaport Blvd, Boston, MA

Ticket prices range from $25 (single day) to $70 (for special autograph VIP passes), go HERE to order.

I will also be on a Panel! It’s 4pm on Saturday, in the Waterfront Ballroom 1 , and we will be discussing the benefits and tribulations of working on am writer-illustrator TEAM! As you know, with the Abby’s Adventures series, I have to work along side the author and the publisher, so it can be both helpful and frustrating at times too!

I hope to see you there! And don’t forget to be proactive and consider a PRE-ORDER SPECIAL!!!

Schedule Rearranging

Jul03

Hiya guys. Happy day before 4th of July. So… thaaaaat’s the 3rd of July, yes.

Just wanted to touch base regarding some schedule reshuffling that’s happening around here. If you’re a  Z&F super-fan, you may have thought Monday’s comic was the last of the first 2014 “season”, which is usually March 1st – June 30th. Well, good news, IT’S NOT OVER! I will continue posting MORE Zorphbert & Fred comics here on Monday, all the way through the end of AUGUST!

But, now… the bad news.

After that I won’t be returning until January of 2015. And here’s why:

It’s been 8 years of staying on schedule and cranking out comics twice, sometimes three times, and for a while FIVE times a week. I do about a dozen+ comic cons and book/craft shows a year. Add in the freelance jobs that roll in (actual payment takes precedence), and what you have is a very overworked and exhausted gal. I need a break. Longer than my usually 2 month off-season (which I tend to fill up with catch-up work anyway). I need to settle and allow my brain to reset, and see where I want to go with Z&F and how much longer. I am halfway done with Book 4 now. And to be honest, I MAY decide to wrap up the series at the end of book 4, but I haven’t decided. Z&F may be reincarnated into a different form– graphic novel? single panel? Who knows. But I hope to figure all that out on my longer break. The end result may be a brand new comic altogether, too! I have lots of swirling ideas but nothing solid.

Also, for those wondering, there will be no more off-season ebook offerings. Much of that content I am posting for free right here, through August. That’s it, I hope it clears up any questions or confusion. Stayed tuned on MONDAYS for more comics!
