Some of Z&F’s Biggest Fans!

In 2 days, the release of Zorphbert and Fred Volume 2: Marriage Runs on Coffee will become official at the Philadelphia Comic Con, but some lucky sonuvaguns got their hands on it beforehand. Just to add some hype to the release, and to thoroughly thank some of Z&F’s biggest fans, here’s some awesome pics!

__________________________________________________________________________

Ed of Hobo & Bowser is a twitter buddy of mine, and we share the love of doggie comics! As he put it, the caption for this picture is “I like to read my Z&F “where the magic happens”. I was just glad there was no toilet in this shot.

Ed and his friend Rich are the creators behind the comic Hobo & Bowser, Ed being the artist! The best way to describe H&B is seeing the imaginative adventures you had as a kid with your toys come to fruition in comic form! They have covered just about every breed and even tossed in a lop-earred bunny for good measure. A great comic for any young-hearted dog lover.

__________________________________________________________________________

Jermaine McGruder of Warrior Born looks beyond happy holding Volume 2 in this picture, and that’s just my intent with making Z&F comics! One of my oldest fans and supporters on drunkduck.com, Jermaine has also been working hard at his own comic, a bad@$$ urban superhero action comic that continues to improve every time I drop by. In fact, he won “most improved comic” in the drunkduck awards! Now that’s a lesson in practice, devotion & determination!

__________________________________________________________________________

D’awww……meet Laci and Bentley, some furry friends and apparently VERY smart dogs who can read comics! They adore Z&F, despite pretending they are ignoring their coveted collection here.

Actually, Laci and Bentley belong to longtime twitter friend Michael Phelps (no no, not THAT Michael Phelps) of the comic Life on 66… who LENT them my first 2 collections to peruse. Check out Mike’s comic for change of scenery- as he puts it: “Somewhere between hillbilly and urbania”…. there’s probably a gas station with an owner who knows everyone and a little cafe with great coffee and pie, with a practical joke or two thrown in for entertainment.

________________________________________________________________________

Also, a quote about the new book, from reader & fan Jennie Albinson:

I really do find Zorphbert and Fred extremely funny;
I usually find myself grinning, or even laughing out loud, when I read it. So much so, that my other half asks if I’m feeling all right.

________________________________________________________________________

You can get your hands on this awesome book as well! Packed with bonus material like how-to’s, fanart, contests, wedding guest art, and commentary throughout the 200 comics, it’s a great buy for anyone who’s ever felt like an alien on their own planet!

Go ahead, click the book and I’ll show you to the store!

Philly Comic Con 2011!

I am getting geared up for one of my staple conventions- the Philadelphia Wizard World Comic Con, next weekend! I am SUPER stoked for this one, as last year’s convention was SUCH a huge success.. in general, and for me specifically! In fact, it was my most successful convention to date. So, I am really hoping if you’re in the area, and have at least $25 on hand, get yourself a 1-day pass (or more!) and come by to meet me! I swear I don’t bite, and I may very well have candy.

I do advise to buy tickets online prior to the show… so go do that ASAP! Last year on Saturday there was such a long line, people were waiting for 4-6 hours to get in, and they even extended the show! So please avoid the lines and frustration and get on that now. Angry, tired, frustrated readers at my table make me uneasy. I may very well throw candy at them.

Now, for the goodies I’ll have on hand!

The Zorphbert and Fred Volumes! Number TWO Debuts at this convention!

The Abby’s Adventures kids book series; great wholesome books for girls 3-8 years old!

Plus MORE goodies like buttons, mini Z&F books, and the Space Invader pendant/signed print package! ANNNNNND I may even be having BIG sales… you just never know! *wink wink*

Oh yeah, here’s where I’ll be in the massive Artist’s Alley.

Table #1804- just look for the 1800 Aisle and then for my Z&F/Abby banners! Might be better to just grab a bullhorn and shout “free coffee!!!”, I’ll find you, then. In fact… if you BRING me a coffee, you’ll get a FREE sketchcard and a button set. How’s THAT???!

Comics for Japan- Donate to Japan, win this Sketch Masterpiece on eBay= Bi-Winning! (click for larger view)

The Webcomic Alliance members recently exhibited at Chicago’s C2E2 Comic Convention, and collected these awesome sketches from many renowned artists and creators in the comic industry. In efforts to promote the Comics For Japan project (please visit the website for more details), I am posting this collaborative piece for auction, in which 100% of the proceeds will go to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. The Comics For Japan project has inspired me to use the talents and connections I have, to hopefully be able to donate more than what I could afford on my own.

I will carefully ship you the sketch FOR FREE (S&H charges are on me), and your money goes towards helping victims in Japan. A win-win situation! I know this economy is rough… but trust me, it could be MUCH much worse. Lets help those who have it worse.

Here is a listing of the artists who donated a SIGNED sketch, as well as their comics or projects:

Randy Milholland of “Something Positive”
Danielle Corsetto of “Girls With Slingshots”
Joel Watson of “Hijinks Ensue”
Dave Willis of “Shortpacked”
James Silvani of “Darkwing Duck”
Lar DeSouza of “Least I Could Do”
Charles Paul Wilson III of “The Stuff of Legend”
Dave Reynolds of “Shadowgirls”
Alan Evans of “Rival Angels”
Glenn “GW” Fisher of “www.gwfisher.com”
W. Byron Wilkins of “1977 The Comic”
Dawn Griffin of “Zorphbert and Fred”

Click HERE to go to the eBay Auction Page!

And if you cannot afford the sketch piece.. there are other ways to help:

  • SECOND HARVEST JAPAN: http://www.2hj.org/index.php/eng_home People can send supplies directly to survivors on the ground!
  • RED CROSS Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund
  • or text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 from your phone
