In one of the biggest turn-outs ever, I am super excited to announce the WINNER of the latest “Put Words in Their Mouths” Caption Contest is fellow webcomic creator Chris Watkins of Odori Park! I wish I had more time to give you guys a proper synopsis of Chris’ awesome comic, but I am literally about to toss my luggage in the car and drive down to Baltimore for the Comic Con this weekend. I will say this– READ IT. It’s a funny, cultural, family-oriented, somewhat geeky take on the typical parents-and-a-kid comic. And there’s a great flashback storyline going on right now about how the couple got engaged, always a good story to tell!
Chris’ entry took a completely different spin on why Fred and Nettika would faint due to smelling a catnip mouse, and that definitely made me chuckle. The runner up was Chris Otto with “Catnip? Looks more like “catnap”.” A great play on words.
Thanks for all the wonderful entries! I hpe you enjoyed it, and look for the next contest in approximately a month’s time. Chris, I’ll be contacting you soon about where to send your FREE signed copy of Z&F Volume One! Congrats, man!
Congratulations, Chris!! Glad you won, because otherwise I may not have found and fallen in love with your comic. Fantastic work there! I urge you all to check his comic out!
I actually liked Tim Tribbet’s entry about the chloroform. When I read that, I thought “Why didn’t I think of that?” That’s the first entry that made me think that. Most of the time, I like one or more of my entries the best. Not that they ACTUALLY are better than anyone else’s. They’re just the closest to my mindset for obvious reasons. However, I’m not sure that I like my entries better than Tim Tribbet’s. I like this entry better than my “knockout” and “mouth-to-mouth” entries. However, I would have difficulty deciding between this and my “Mickey” entry. I realize that what I would have picked has never matched what you picked but I feel inclined to reveal it anyway.
Oh, I almost forgot. Hope you enjoy your book, Chris. I already have a copy and enjoyed reading it but my best friend doesn’t. Had I won, I’d have given Dawn her mailing address.
Hey, that’s an awesome surprise! Thank you, Dawn! I know I’ll enjoy the book. Thank you for the generous critique of Odori Park, too! (Very glad you’ve found it, and enjoyed it, too, Chris!)
Very good writing, Chris Watkins. I love it. And, I will read the comic.
I did like the ‘Micky’ mouse one. That was a good play on word meaning.
Thanks very much, Samwise!
