I could dive into this as a deeper analogy for other things we humans tend to hang on to in the face of cold hard facts, but this story truly wasn’t intended to go in that direction. It actually winds up being more about Zorphie not being capable of letting an unsolved mystery go. As much as we DO know as an intelligent species, we still don’t know it all. And one has to wonder if we DID know everything there is to know… what would we strive for then?

Then there’s the other side of the coin… If you can’t disprove or prove a myth, how do you know for sure that it’s a myth?
well, technically you can’t. But at that point the burden of proof is on those who believe in said myth. Belief is a weird thing. You either believe or you don’t… and even if you don’t, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve dis-proven it. It just means you haven’t been given adequate evidence to believe.
