Fanart Friday: Grin-n-Spirit

GR_grinspirit

Today’s fanart (really more of a cameo), comes from longtime reader and frequent commenter “ghostrunner”, as well all know him. I adore this cameo of Fred, partaking in a game of fetch! Jim Dyar is the head honcho behind the long-running “Grin-n-Spirit” over on drunkduck– and MAN, can this guy pound out the updates! If you enjoy ghosts, demons, fantasy and big explosions.. head on over for a treat! Saddle up, webcomic fans… this is one long story!

Seems as though Jim also has his own home page,  so here’s a link to that as well:

Clipart FAIL #3

This week’s Clipart FAIL features a Z&F-relevant keyword: DOG. I figured there must be a ton of gems buried in Clipart’s Archives of Shame with such a common word. I was correct.

dogcrayon

When did CRAYON become a respected medium? Has Clipart.com heard of child labor laws?

FAIL.

dogface

Well, I know what will prancing around in my next nightmare.

FAIL.

dogtoilet

No idea what inspired this. Love the straining, you really “feel” it. aak.

FAIL.

dog_turkeyleg

W. T. H…………?

FAIL.

dogteeth

Sometimes, you have to ask yourself, will this ever be used in the “real world”?

FAIL.

dog-what?

Did Dr. Suess crash the Clipart Party? Kill it, quick, before it eats me.

FAIL.

dogsign

Let’s try drawing SOBER, capice?

FAIL.

dogalien

Just for kicks I did a search for “alien dogs”. This resulted. Not a terrible drawing, I’ll give it that… but file it under “No One Will Ever Use This.”

FAIL.

Clipart FAIL Fanart!

Not that I ever would have expected it, but I actually received a “fanart” piece from the previous Clipart FAIL posting. Mr. Tom Joiner (aka Bo Lumpkin) sent me this hilarious rendition/improvement upon the bizarre “turkey” lineart I stumbled on. Fitting in with today’s keyword, he managed to covert the turkey into a DOG. Well done, dontcha think? I’m calling it “Whistling Dalmatian”. And he’s ready for anything!

Clipart FAIL #2

Happy Labor Day! Let’s hope clipart artists take a day off from their “hard work” on creations such as the one below:

turkey

I believe this was found under the keyword “plate”. Which, after a while, clued me in to what the heck it was. My first thought was an anteater crawling out of a hole? Why he was “ready”, I’m not sure.. ready to eat ants I guess. But upon inspection of the other keywords, one being “turkey”, I realized that snout was really a hacked-off turkey neck. How nice. And, even without a beak, or head for that matter, it can still speak (not that turkeys can even speak, but who cares)…. exclaiming it is ready to be cooked. How innovative, a turkey that gives you pointers as you cook the damn thing.

Oh look. The artist graced us with a COLOR version, which is… obviously… a vast improvement.

Fanart Friday: James Zintel

2009-01-01-Gary&Ted

James has been my webcomic buddy from way back in my drunkduck days.. one of the first comics I remember reading over there was “Gary and Ted”. Yes, it’s another social commentary comic featuring humans and an alien friend  (that would be Gary in thecomic above!). And the title is 2 of the characters’ names. Z&F and G&T to the end! They even rhyme! Good minds think alike.

Swing by “Gary and Ted” for your second daily dose of alien humor… but James’ is definitely a little more twisted and off-the-wall than mine…. and the result is laugh-out-loud hilarity!

The last update of his is very topical, hope he doesn’t mind if I post it over here for you all to giggle at:

Extra! Extra!

Z&F got a wonderful review/spotlight over at TGTwebcomics! Quite flattered at what they had to say… check it out here.
