New Project: Z&F Fanart Challenege

New Community Project!

As I have advised other creators, the best way to drum up community interaction, fanart, guest strips and get your readers involved is to make it FUN: give it a theme! So, I have created a series, and a page, just for this, called The Z&F Fanart Challenge! Every quarter there will be a new theme that’s posted there, and it’s up to YOU to take on the challenge! Every entry will be posted on the site (on “Fanart Fridays!”), and will also be included in the printed Z&F books. Plus… there’s a little something in it for the WINNER, each quarter!

This Quarter’s Theme (running until 5-31-2013)

Inspired by the sugary cereal storyline that kicked of this season, your Fanart Challenge is to design the Zorphbert & Fred Cereal Box! Think of all those crazy cartoon characters that are plastered on cereal boxes, and those goofy kitschy names for the cereal itself! What kind of cereal box would Z&F be featured on? What would the cereal have in it or be made up of– flakes? marshmallows? puffs? yogurt drops? It’s all up to you!

Clipart FAIL: Earth!

It’s been a while since we had a Clipart FAIL, so I figured why not zero in on the same thing Z&F are studying… EARTH! I’m sure clipart.com can conjure up some decent images representative of our fine planet, no? *cough*

 Yes, I believe that is precisely how Z&F view our planet.

Convention Schedule 2013!

And it begins……

I have been using this hiatus to, well, NOT take much of a break.  As you know, Z&F book 3 took up a lot of my time, and the books are about to arrive on my doorstep, JUST in time for the first convention of the season for me. I have also been networking with friends and booking other comic cons, looking for different types of events like art festivals, book fairs, and craft fairs to expand exposure opportunities for my work. While I don’t have every event booked, I wanted to share with you the schedule thus far!

Holiday PWITM Contest: WINNER!

First off, Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope 2013 brings you health & happiness and blah blah blah yay.

ANYHOOOO… now for the REAL announcement! The winners of this season’s Put Words in Their Mouths Caption Contest!

The runner up, who will received a signed T’was The Night Before Christmas Z&F Poster, is Scott Maitland with his entry: “Wasn’t the rabbit costume supposed to be for that other holiday?” That’s pretty much dead-on something Zorphbert would notate about the bunny costume. We humans tend to confusing things, huh? Congrats Scott, I’ll be in touch with you soon.

The grand prize – a Z&F figurine and a signed copy of the vol. 3 preview minibook- goes to Michael Phelps of Life on 66! His entry (in the picture above) was funny and fitting for the characters, comic, and storyline. I really liked how he tied in the movie (and a missing element in my storyline- the bumpass hounds!) with Zorphbert & Fred so succinctly! Great job Mike, and I’ll be contacting with you soon!
