well, I certainly had fun drawing Fred shakin’ what he’s got in this one. I enjoyed it far more than attempting to dance myself.
Dawn’s Actual Wedding Experience:
Our DJ’s company is named “No Macarena”. I think that says it all, but in case you don’t get the drift: No cheesey cliched wedding songs allowed! This includes all the above, plus others like Celebration, We Are Family, Hokey Pokey, Macarena, and to some extent, Shout. Although, you could have twisted my arm for Shout… I mean, C’mon.. it’s James Brown.
Just a note:

Holy Hell. I thought I’d mention YMCA before you but you beat me. Sooo jealous! Love this one, Dawn!
please, you cannot do a montage of cheesey wedding songs and NOT include the Mother of All Wedding Dance Songs. Thanks Howie ;0)
What song goes “DUH-DADADADA-DUH!”?
the chicken dance song, of course! There’s no lyrics to that song… hoping that Fred’s pose would clue most people in!
Get down wit’cha bad self, Fred! 🙂
and he’s not even drunk!
We had all of those dances at my wedding, including the chicken dance, we didn’t have the Macerena, as far as I can remember.
they seem to be staples that never get old! Our DJ got requests to play them, but he was able to fend ’em off, heh.
You’ve got some moves Fred, but believe me when I say it…those moves are best done under a table and not out on the dance floor. 🙂
Great job Dawn, I love Fred’s determination and how engrossed he gets into the moves; tongue out, eyes closed. I wonder if Fred’s moves are gonna go into Zorphbert’s journal. 🙂
On a side note I think it’s really funny having Zorphbert steadily writing away on his clipboard while the boss is right there beside him. It makes me think of taking notes in class, as the teacher walked past you that’s when you took the most detailed notes of your life. 🙂
Thank you Todd, I really enjoyed drawing Fred dancing… except when I got the chicken dance stuck in my head.
Yup, I have also thought about how Zorphie must feel under the watchful eye of the manager… never fun position to be in!
Okay… the Hokey Pokey is the ultimate bad wedding song. My wife and I left before they did that song (we had to get up early… yeah, that’s it…).
Having shot about 100 weddings in the mid 80s, I have a few stories of really drunk people thinking they are making some great dance moves but in reality just look freakin’ stupid.
Ask me how I nearly destroyed a wedding cake at a wedding … it involved some serious flue medicine… 🙂
