Hope everyone had a fun, safe and reflective Memorial Day. I’m thinking about my grandfather, WWII Veteran… and the Original Gadget Man. ;0)

I really think people are payin’ more attention to our heroes than they used too. My dad fought in WWII and Korea, I’m thankful he is still around at 86. (He actually seems to have better health than I do.)
That’s good to hear… and kudos to your father! 86 and kickin’ is pretty admirable.
THAT- has to be Zorphberts best punchline yet! HAH!
woo! Thanks jynksie, there’s just something funny about potato salad!
What a difference a panel makes! Love the transition between the second and third panels. Priceless! Great strip, Dawn!
Thank you, and trust me.. I felt that transition myself that day… whew was it HOT!
I was thinking too bad they didn’t have electricity 200 years ago just so they could do night farming. Phew it is hot.
yeah, seriously… no idea how people can be out there doing hard labor all day. I’m such a spoiled graphic designer in my little air-conditioned office, complaining about our fluky thermostat.
In the end the mixture of Potato Salad and the Sun always wins. No matter what that’s one combined force that you can never “keep down”. 🙂
I’m with Bo, thankfully the men and women who have fought and continue to fight to keep our country safe and free are getting a lot more recognition then they used to. I saw more Memorial Day ceremonies for our soldiers this year then I have in the past (or maybe should I say, have noticed in the past).
Memorial Day was a lot of fun this year we took the boys to Houston to the Zoo, and let me tell ya I saw a lot of the battered soldiers from your strip as we started off the day. There they were setting up their BBQ Pits, getting out the trimmings and all the fixin’s ready to fix a feast fit for a king. The smell of charcoal and propane filled the air, soon followed up with the sweet aroma of sausage and hamburgers, ribs and brisket. As the day went on that aroma was soon covered up with the smell of sweaty, sun drenched bodies clinging to the side of trees and gazebos searching for what ever spot of shade they could find. Kids running around wildly jumping thru fountains as their parents tried to coral them with whatever zapped energy was left, just wanting to “accidentally” get into those fountains as well. Older family members sitting in cars with the A/C blasting looking out across sun blotched windows commenting to one another about how “It was never this hot when we were younger”. It was definitely a hot, hot day down South but it was definitely a great one.
wow, you painted the picture of memorial Day perfectly Todd. So, so true. and I may not be and old fart quite yet, but I certainly DOES seem hotter in the summer these days. maybe as a kid, you don’t notice as much?
Sounds like you and the boys had a great day at the zoo! My weekend wasn’t too shabby either! Man does that extra day off help.
