Seriously, if there’s one glimmer of decent television between the hours of 10am and 4pm, it’s The Price is Right. Yes, even with Drew Carey hosting (I know many are not fans). Plink-O, as simple as it is, was always my favorite game.
As much as I yearn for a day of nothing but “bad TV and my warm bed”, once I experience it, it loses the novelty quite fast. Thank goodness for Netflix, DVR and DVD players.
I always looked forward to Bob Barker on my sick days as a kid! 🙂
Bob was the best. Drew ain’t bad either!
These stories are great, Dawn. Thanks for publishing. Also, everyone knows the showcase is the best part of The Price is Right and that Plinko! stinks. 🙂
awwwwww don’t you say that about Plinko!
actually the showcase was always lame- you just try to guess the total? Booooring. I alwasy liked the in-depth games. Or that yodelling mountain man one!
I personally find a smartphone more engaging than any TV programming lately.
you are one of many, my friend ;0)
We didn’t do game shows in my house… Mom was a soap addict!
my mom too- Days of Our Lives. I knew the intro like the back of my hand. But up until 1pm, it was game shows like family feud and TPIR!
I haven’t seen the Price Is Right in awhile, except for when The Bold and the Beautiful had a storyline that had 2 characters on The Price Is Right. It seems Drew Carey’s doing a good job taking over for Bob Barker. Yeah, that’s right – I watch CBS soaps… the kind that are so bad, they have a parking spot at E! for the number of times they show a clip from them on “The Soup.” Judge away.
But I do agree that I’m thankful for DVRs, Netflix, and anything else that will keep me from the trap that comes from flipping channels to Maury or having to sit through many modern-day soap plot lines (yeah, I watch, but I think habit and a few favorite characters keep me there).
I did watch a soap opera for a split second. it was my mom’s fav- Days of Our Lives…. and only when the one chick was possessed by the devil. How could I NOT watch THAT hilarity??!!!!
My mom was disappointed when devil-woman got better, it meant I wouldn’t be watching anymore with her :0(
