I love when artists add a lot of extra details to their work, to add even more character or humor. Rainey took up the Fanart Challenge and ran rampant with it! I love all the extra thought he put into this design– from the shape & flavor of the cereal itself, to the prize inside! And Fred’s statement works as a great tagline “Like us, there’s more to this than meets the eye”! (of course, being an 80’s kid, I dig the Transformers reference). Have to admit, when I first saw this I laughed, thinking “WOW, that is one BIG bowl of cereal!” when comparing the size of Zorphbert & Fred’s heads! Thanks for your effort in this Rainey, and for taking the CHALLENGE!
Guys, Rainey is just starting out with a webcomic of his own, called “Reaper’s Legacy”… which sounds creepily cool! Imagine if “Death” (akaka the Reaper) had to train the next in line for his job? Yep, this can only lead to some dark & hilarious adventures! A great combo!
Next week’s spot is OPEN! Who’s up for a cereal-box-design CHALLENGE?! Head HERE for more details.
NEXT WEEKEND! I’m at it again!
Come on out to Awesome Con in DC April 20-21st! Bring the kids, find me in Artist Alley! I’ll have all THREE volumes of Zorpbert & Fred comics, 4 Abby’s Adventures kids books in paper back AND hardcover, plus extra stuff like buttons, magnets, pendants, figurines, prints & more! You know, the usual. Plus, you can just leave me a tip, any kind of tip, for a FREE 3″ button!

Hey everybody that is participating in Dawn’s Cereal Box fan art… I know there’s not a contest per se but I thought I might add a little incentive to all of you that have thought about doing a cereal box design for Dawn but hadn’t yet got around to it…
I’m really digging these so I thought it might be fun to do a little cross-polination, so to speak and by that, I mean… after more people have submitted their cereal designs, I’m going pick one (or maybe two or maybe five) and put them in a Capes & Babes strip and make these cereals official products in the Capes & Babes universe.
So, whatcha waiting for? Get cranking on more awesome designs! š
AWESOME idea Chris! The Fanart Challenge is a contest, with free ad space on this site as a prize! Half-way through this season, I’ll either pick my favorite, or put up all the entries to vote on by any Z&F reader! But this idea makes entering even more intriguing!
Thanks for the advertisement of my new webcomic. I’ll be posting the third comic strip this weekend. Hopefully with a little work, I’ll be able to post once a week at least and make my comic more readable (without clicking on it to enlarge it).
Thank YOU for taking the Challenge! It’s great practice! Best wishes with your comic.. it takes some dedication to keep up with a schedule, but the first thing should be that it’s FUN!
Dawn, any chance of you sharing your “5 things I’d do differently if I were starting my webcomic NOW” here or at the webcomic alliance site after the panel?
it’s definitely the makings of a great article at the WA… I’ll keep it in mind for one of my next scheduled slots!
