Of COURSE! Rat & Pig! “MJ” Brings Us Some Pearls…

I met Michael on Google+ a while ago, and we have traded fanart back and forth and had some great discussions. Interesting fact about Mike: he’s been professional drawing since I was alive (1979)!! He’s the syndicated cartoonist behind  FIDDLESTIX©, and Welcome To The Jungle©, and you can find out more about him on his Tooned In© Blog.

I’m a big fan of Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis, so naturally I was STOKED to see this one roll in. Pig is totally Fred (naive, cute, well-meaning), and Rat is a little bit meaner version of Zorphie. In fact, it’s Rat’s never-ending mean streak that made me want to give Zorphie a soft side. We don’t see it often, but it’s there. While I love Pearls, a totally hate-able character isn’t what I wanted to go for with Zorphbert. The copyright joke is doubly awesome, Michael… thanks for putting this together!
