Fred’s too easy to write for sometimes.
I have good news! Two years ago I illustrated a children’s book for a writer, and we looked into getting it published. Turns out most big publishers will not take “package deals”, meaning art and writing together as one, so it went on the back burner. But this week, my writer finally found a publisher! And she wants a whole series!
Look for Abby’s Adventures at amazon.com and other online retailers soon.
Congrats Dawn!
thats awesome dawn! great news!
Fantastic news! Patience is a virtue, but not as big a virtue as bombarding publishers! Haha!
Frank: hey! great to see you here! thanks for sharing my excitement!
GR: fancy meeting you here, too! Gracias!
Ersatz: yeah, tell me about it, LOL! Nice publisher, gooooood publisher *pat pat*
Hilarious strip! I laughed out loud. 🙂
Wow! You are such an amazing, expressive artist! I love the cover to your children’s book. I know how slow publishing can be. I’ve got art that I’ve been compensated for from ’07 that hasn’t seen print yet.
Great comic! Fred is so silly sometimes. 🙂
Rob: Yay! Then I did a good job ;0)
George: thank you, greatly. I had forgotten about the kids book, so many things with the best intentions never work out, so this was a pleasant surprise! Fred’s silliness keeps me young, heh
Wow, congrats on the book! Comic was great today too!
I bet the quickness of your pencils have a lot to do with the liveliness of your inks. Do you do gray tones in Illustrator in a separate layer like me?
-C.
Carlisle: yup, I use a gray brush for sketching on 1 layer, and then a more calligraphic type black brush for the inks on another layer. I probably use 7-9 layers for each comic… backgrounds, text, bubbles, etc etc.
