They still do the Turnip thing in Ireland. I have a friend in Belfast who was confused when I told her about pumpkins and I in turn was like “Turnips??”
Typical indeed. When I moved to London I was surprised how much smaller things were here. Now I’m so used to it, then when I went back to the States I was surprised by how big (and cheap) everything was.

well, they DO have watermelon carving contests, but it’s more of a summer thing. Pumpkins are in season in the fall, so that’s why.
Yeah… I bet those turnip Pies were pretty terrible too. 🙂
