We do in fact get together with neighbors to watch the debates, and it’s treated almost like a sporting event… there’s drinking, snacks, cheering, yelling, maybe even some objects thrown at the TV.
Do you watch the debates? Or maybe the party’s conventions? Ever go to see a candidate speak live? I saw Joe Biden speak last year at a nearby farm/orchard and it was quite an experience. I’m not hugely political, and at times feel it’s all useless anyway, but I am proud to live in a country where I have a right to vote.
The only bad part about trying to tie the debates into a sporting environment is that you can’t get the wave to go across the isles. 🙂 This is an awesome take on politics Dawn, just think if everyone made it out like this we’d all look forward to Fall every 4 years. We could do face paint, write out the candidates names one letter at a time across our bodies, the whole shebang. Great job as usual.
OMG, debates would be SO much more fun with the Wave! especially if the candidates have to join in, mid-talking point!
Not I, I just end up screaming at the TV and shutting it off in 30 seconds at what idiots both candidates are.
Of course I also scream at football, but I know that, no matter what that really IS just a game and they can gear up again next week to do it all over.
either way, a lot of screaming, I sometimes turn off sports out of the same level of frustraton.. but then again, I’m a Cleveland sports fan ;0)
I guess essentially this election is a lot like the Super Bowl. You got two teams and millions of fans who’ll kill for their champion. Yep, that’s about the size of it.
and the media just gets in the way. ;0)
I’m SOOOOO glad I live in NYC. Con, can’t afford cable. Pro, don’t have those annoying commercials! I don’t even listen to the debates anymore. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt…
Don’t think for a second that I’m not voting, though. I’ve had too many problems voting, even in NYC, to give up a chance to vote.
