This is a true home remedy fix for electronics, but it doesn’t always work… but it is worth a shot to try it before you pay for a replacement. Just put the water-damaged device in a sealed tupperware container full of dry rice and try it again in the morning!
This little iPad story has become a bigger iPad story. See how it all started by going HERE.
Dry rice – the poor man’s silica gel.
you got it! LOL
Wait… does that really work?
not 100% of the time, but yes! Especially if you drop your phone in water for a second, and take it out right away. If you manage to put your phone in the washer… well… probably not.

Once when I was 8, I was playing my Atari Lynx on the john and accidentally dropped it in. Fortunately, I’d turned it off before I fumbled it into the bowl, otherwise it would almost certainly have been shot. My dad suggested I leave it out in the sun, where the black case would soak up the heat and hopefully evaporate all the water out without any damage. And it worked! When I hit the power switch the next day, it turned on just fine.
They really made those old systems to last. I remember reading reader mail in Nintendo Power about Game Boys that had survived house fires. I think one had even endured a grenade explosion in the Gulf War.
wow, this brought back memories! The old “let it sit in the sun” routine, Nintendo Power, the indestructible GameBoys! I never heard about those crazy stories tho… a grenade, REALLY?!!!

you know, sometimes there is too much water on it, causing the rice trick to not work. that happened with my ipod going in the washer, and the rice trick failed. IT FAILED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
