Team Cul De Sac Book for Parkinson’s
Over a year ago, Chris Sparks launched Team Cul De Sac, a fund-raising site for Parkinson’ Research and part of TeamFox, which is part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Chris is friends with Richard Thompson, of the syndicated comic Cul de Sac, and who also struggles with Parkinson’s Disease. As a fan of Richards work, and actually having met him at the Baltimore Comic Con in 2010, I really wanted to submit a piece. Seeing that awesome cartoonists like Bill Amend, Lynn Johnston, Danielle Corsetto, Brian Anderson and even the great Bill Watterson were also submitting their work… I was humbled and very aware of my odds to be accepted into the published book. However, at least my piece would be auctioned off to raise additional money, so I felt good about that.
I am VERY please to say that my piece WILL in fact be included in the book, along with the contributors on the list. You can pre-order the book here, so please consider this awesome deal. Not only do you get this wonderful collection of artists’ Cul de Sac renditions, but all proceeds will be going to people like Richard who has to cope with such a debilitating disease. It’s a win-win if you ask me.
Also, a congrats to friends Brian Anderson, Carolyn Belefski, Norm Feuti, Ed Held, D.M. Rolfe, and Lucas Turnbloom on being in the book with the rest of these wonderful cartoonists. In many cases, we are in the company of our own role models and childhood heroes.

Of course you got accepted! You’ve got the talent to back it up, my dear Crazy Chick. Someday, all those folks will be humbled to have known you! I know I am. Great job, Dawn!
aww shucks Byron, that’s quite the compliment. I am just happy to be in the same book with these fine talented people, if I ever actually meet them my head may explode. Though, I DID meet Richard and my head is still in tack, so maybe not.
How amazing! That’s great you’re a part of such a wonderful cause. It might take me some weeks, but a copy of that book will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.
LOL, thanks Winnie, for helping me support such a great cause! have you read Cul De sac? It’s an awesome little quirky comic, I adore it.
Well deserved Dawn, Congratulations! Love the drawing, too!

That’s totally awesome Dawn, and such a great cause. It’s so awesome that so many wonderful artists have taken part in this. I look forward to getting a copy of this book, heck I may even mail mine to you and get your signature in there as well…you know, so when you’re famous and all I can prove to my friends I know you. 🙂
LOL, thanks Todd… “when I’m famous” seems along the line of “when pigs fly” at the moment. ;0)
Congratulations, Dawn, you’re in the company of comic strip royalty.
Well deserved Dawn! I’ve always said that your work would eventually propel you to new heights. Have the patience to ride the wave!
Recently I was REALLY low on money and debts were eating me from all sides! That was UNTIL I decided to make money.. on the internet! I went to surveymoneymaker dot net, and started filling in surveys for cash, and surely I’ve been far more able to pay my bills! I’m so glad, I did this!!! With all the financial stress these years, I really hope all of you will give it a chance. – 8xpa
