Some of those ghost hunting shows are better than others. My husband and I make fun of this one in particular.. where they’re obviously looking for reasons to prove a haunting, not looking to debunk or disprove. It’s so over-dramatic, and the “evidence” they find is blown so out of proportion, it just becomes silly. However, this team has also caught some amazing evidence that – plain as day, without any drama – couldn’t be explained away. I guess that’s why I bother to watch any of these shows, for that 1% chance that you see something that no amount of dust or wind or outside forces could easily debunk. Not entirely sure I “believe” in ghosts, but maybe I just like the possibility they could exist.
Much like aliens.
Who knows with ghosts?
they are quite… vague.
Agreed – I watch those shows too- Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters especially. I think that most of the noises they hear can be explained away, thumps, creaks, and non-word screams and so forth. However, there are those few pieces that can’t. I think one of the Ghost Hunters group once said that 85 – 90 percent of “hauntings” can be explained by natural causes, (and I think he was low-balling that number) but there are that percentage, maybe as high as 5 percent, that can not be explained by any natural means. I don’t necessarily think it’s Great-Aunt Gladys come back to check on her house or relatives, but there is something that science can’t explain.
yup, Ghost Adventurers is the show I was referring to. The host guy irks me. But they have captured some interesting stuff. I like the Ghist Hunter’s approach the best- very skeptical, critical, looking to debunk rather than sensationalize.
Like you said, there’s a lot.. a LOT.. of things in this world we have yet to discover, fully explain, or explain AWAY. I’m simply open to collecting evidence and being open-minded about it all.
O.o
INORIGHT?
Yes, I’d love to see the “consensus” on EVP’s if they weren’t told what to listen for beforehand.
There are some of them (as below, I watch Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters pretty frequently) that I can catch without the ‘hosts’ help in deciphering them. Others that I will hear what they say they hear, still others that I still can’t hear it.
Like other “evidence” I think a lot of those can be disproved one way or another, but there are a few that legitimately have me scratching my hear.
I find myself often rolling my eyes. EVP’s and orbs don’t impress me as much as seeing something tangible move or a figure. There was one with a lighthouse, where you clearly saw someone looking over the rail, head and hands. It peeked out and then backed away. That was pretty scary!
I’ve seen ones with the “flashlight conversations”– in which the hosts are clever enough to ask the same questions in different ways, to further prove it’s not just a fluke. ie: “Are you a boy?” (flashlight tuns on)… “are you a girl?” (flash light stays off)
indeed, I am only really impressed if I know what an EVP says before the hosts “translate”. It’s gotta be that clear.
doesn’t hurt to include more than 1 word, too. Or to refer to the hosts by name, clearly. That’s always cool.
I’ve seen a ghost before. Yeah those shows are a bit ridiculous at times
I’d be interested in hearing your ghost story!
Ha, ha! It’s like hanging out with my Brother in law!
you usually fall on one side or the other!
